Brownie Trifle

Spring is here and summer is right around the corner. I don’t know about you, but I like cool, light desserts this time of year. Here is one of my favorites – very easy, simple, versatile dessert that everyone will love.

Brownie Trifle:

1 bag of miniature Reece’s cups crushed/chopped (or a any other kind of candy, chocolate cookie you want to try – Heath bars, oreos, etc.)

1 (9×13 pan) brownie mix

2 lg. boxes (5.9 oz.) instant chocolate pudding mix

Milk

16 oz. container Cool Whip

3 c. chocolate chips divided (optional)

Bake brownies according to the directions on the box.

Bake in greased 9×13 inch pan.

Cool completely.

Cut into 1/2-inch cubes.

Make pudding mixture according the directions on the boxes. Set aside.

Place 1/2 of brownies in bottom of large trifle bowl, then 1/2 of the pudding, 1/2 of the Cool whip, and 1/2 of the chopped candy/cookie. Repeat layers. Decorate with crushed candy and/or chocolate swirls. Cover with plastic wrap. Best if refrigerated overnight.

OPTIONS:

Fold in 2 cups chocolate chips before baking brownies.

Combine Cool Whip and 1 cup chocolate chips OR combine pudding and 1 cup chocolate chips.
